Love Your Home

Love is in the air, but is it in your home?

After years in the same place, it can be easy to forget what attracted us to our home in the first place. It’s important to find the right home and then keep the love alive.

Whether you are living in a new home, a charming old house, a comfortable condo, or an apartment, there are things you can do to bring back the love. First, look around. What feeling do you get when you look objectively at your home, inside and out? Are there old curtains that are wearing you down? Outdated furniture? Landscaping that needs sprucing up? Make a list of the things your home needs to make it feel loved again. Then start one project at a time. You will be amazed by how much pleasure you can gain from a little fresh paint or new carpet!

While you’re taking inventory, how does the space feel? Has it become cramped and crowded over the years? Declutter and organize your space and you may be surprised how much more room you have. If organizing isn’t your forte, there are organizing specialists who can help you part with those trinkets and line up your closets and cupboards for easy access.

Reinvent the magic with some simple upgrades. Maybe a new backsplash in the kitchen, some new bedding or drapes, or some new lighting will lighten your home life. Perhaps it’s not that you need something new, as much as you need to get rid of the old. You’ll be amazed how good it feels to get rid of that old dresser you’ve hated for years!

Most importantly, make sure your home reflects your heart. Choose colors, art, and furniture that represents YOU. Maybe your current décor is traditional farmhouse but you’re more of a modern architecture soul. Start making the transition towards the “real you” and your house will feel like a home. Making your home comfortable will provide you with a reprieve from the hustle and bustle of the outside world.

Put a little love into your home and it will come back in personal joy and satisfaction. After all, home IS where the heart is!
